On the 18th March 2007 New Ross Vocational College hosted the All Ireland Inter-Schools Hunter Trials in Colmeen Co. Kilkenny. The event was a great success despite the many showers of hail and snow.
The day began with the host college team taking the field at 8.15 in the Teams event.
72 teams, 175 senior individuals and 200 junior individuals took on the 23 fences on the course designed by Tommy Brennan.
Euro Languages sponsored the team event, which was won by Stephen Brennan, Leanne Butler and Vincent Byrne, of Kilkenny College in a time of 5.45. Joanna Younghusband, Charlotte Younghusband and Katie Condren of Kilkenny College secured second place with a clear round in a time of 6.33. Jason Furlong, Kelly-Anne Walsh and John Ellard of Bridgetown Vocational College finished just nine seconds later with a time of 6.42 placing them third.
The Senior Individual Event sponsored by Quattro Group, was won for the second year running by Luke Cummins of Kilkenny College in a time of 4.47. Ryan O'Driscoll of Scoil Airgeal Ballyhale finished second in a time of 4.59. Third place went to Gemma Drennan of Loreto Kilkenny in a time of 5.00.
Dominic Furnell of Kilkenny College won the Junior Individual Championship, sponsored by Campus Oil, in a time of 4.40. Michelle Kenny from Loreto Wexford followed 13 seconds later taking second place. Jennifer Larkin of Loreto Clonmel finished in third place with a time of 5.05.
